My next post about New Zealand came on Feb. 3, 2003 and tells me I had started reading the New Zealand Herald by then. This was my first source of "real" information about New Zealand and I continue to check it to this day.

On this same post I talked about my Grandfather Lou who had been in the ICU.

By Feb. 7, 2003 I had started looking into the price of tickets to NZ.

(When I say NZ you should try reading it as N Zed... that is how the Kiwi's say Z = Zed. N Zed. NZ.)

Feb. 9, 2003 found me hunting for NZ webcam sites and talking about my original interest in NZ:

"If I'm placed in New Zealand.... no I'm going to be positiive about this... When I'm placed in New Zealand ;) I will HAVE to make a trip to Ashburton, home of the Ashford Spinning Wheel. The first wheel I ever spun on was an Ashford. Then my mom gave me one of her old wheels, a Clems & Clems, after I fell in love with it. When I moved away to college I couldn't take my wheel since it was so big and heavy. Christmas before last my dad bought me an Ashford Kiwi, which I just love. It fits perfectly in my closet at the dorm and I've taken it to classes off and on to demonstrate spinning."

February 14, 2003... Valentine's day. That was THREE years ago (today)! It doesn't seem possible.

It was a short post followed immediately by a post in which I said:

"EEEP!

There are active volcanoes in New Zealand.

Shhhhh don't tell my mom ;)"
